The overall objective of the project is to develop an internationally recognised interuniversity campus of excellence to build skills in research and innovation in the food processing sector, with a particular focus on the MENA region.
The project has a duration of five years, starting on 1 December 2024 and ending on 30 November 2029. The total budget amounts to €2,502,490.65, including €2,310,000.00 in requested funding and €192,490.65 in co-funding.

The project is coordinated by Prof. Pier Sandro Cocconcelli, Vice-Rector for the Coordination of Internationalisation Projects at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart and Full Professor of Food Microbiology. He is Director of the Transdisciplinary Research on Food Issues Centre (TROFIC) and serves as a scientific expert for the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). He is also Secretary General of the Strategic Alliance of Catholic Research Universities (SACRU) and author of over 560 scientific publications.
